MTech Fuel Saver Installation, Part 2

Testing the Fuel Tank Filler Tube for Obstructions

Test fuel tank filler tube for obstructionsOne thing cannot be denied about the MTech Fuel Saver: it installs very easily. The only hitch we had was when we had to make sure there was no obstruction in the fuel tank filler tube.

To test this, we connected the fuel tank component to a long flexible wire and then lowered the fuel component down into the tank. We then pulled it back up and sniffed it for gas. We had to push it down a decently long distance.  Sure enough, it smelled as if it had been dunked in fuel.

We are now in the middle of testing the claims of this device - up to 20%. The very next fill-up showed 30 mpg, which is average. But that includes 10 minutes of idling the car at 50% - 60% maximum rpm, so it could not be considered a valid test. However, it was encouraging to see that even with 10 minutes of wasted fuel, the vehicle still got 30 mpg.

Note: The installation instructions call for a 5 minute idle at 50% - 60% of maximum rpm 30 minutes after dropping the fuel tank component in. We forgot this step and revved the car immediately. So we used up double the amount of fuel we should have had we followed procedure.
